We gather together with popcorn at the ready, for this should be a good live episode. Everyone figures Brendon is half way out the door and the HOH should be one hell of a fight.

Jordan gives us the first laugh of the evening in the DR. She thinks she has a good shot at staying vs. Brendon, but if she’s going to go, she wants people to tell her so she can wear this kick ass eviction dress she bought just for the occasion. She’s just too funny for words.

Jeff is concerned with the stability of Rachel in that every piece of fruit will remind her of her lover. If she continues to whine, he just may tear each and every hair out of his head.

In the back yard, Brenchel jockey for votes to keep Brendon. They set their sights on Adam, Porsche and Shelly. Porsche is on board it seems. Adam and Shelly are wild cards. Shelly has been playing both sides.

Daniele goes to work on Adam, but he for once tells her he’ll consider both sides, but ultimately will make his own decision. Porsche is an easier sell. Dani swears Rachel will lie to Porsche to get what she wants.

Porsche lays it on the line to Rachel to knock off the moping around bit., because people are becoming uncomfortable. Rachel stomps away, believing everyone is against her. This power player really blew it this time. Brendon asks Rachel if he made a mistake taking himself off the block because she’s beginning to lose it. It’s looking like she is in the midst of a full-blown meltdown. Her inability to handle the separation situation is really tipping the scales as to how the other HGs will vote. It’s disturbing to witness.

After the break, Julie Chen chats with the HGs, Adam does his elf dance and Rachel explains how special Brendon is to save her from the block. Jeff isn’t looking forward to the house without Jordan, but he’s a positive thinker.

We move to a montage of Evel Dick and Daniele’s season eight relationship along with his thoughts on his daughter’s BB13 game play. Dick claims Dani is trying to come out from under his shadow. He’s fairly critical of her, pronouncing she should have waited till much later to start knocking off the vets. Does she have a chance at winning? Dick believes so, but it’s an uphill battle at best. No interview with Julie, just a previously shot scene. If anyone gets a chance to read Daniele’s HOH blog on BB CBS, what she says about her dad is rather telling. In her opinion, Big Brother is “his life.”

Julie does chat with Dani, asking if she regrets making a move on Jeff. She realizes her timing was off. She also keeps making the point she isn’t trying to break up a marriage, it’s just part of the game.

The votes come in with Jeff voting to knock out Brendon. Rachel enters the DR in tears and votes to evict Jordan. The final tally is Kalia, Adam, Lawon and Shelly voting to evict Brendon. Porsche is the only newbie to support her friend Rachel.

Rachel begins to sob as they hug it out, and Dani takes off to the kitchen like she’s been shot out of a canon.

Brendon – all emotional, discusses why he saved Rachel instead of himself. Love is the answer. Brendon also agrees Dani made a huge mistake in splitting up the vets and that she does indeed live under her father’s shadow. Brendon is spirited away after Kalia digs at him in her goodbye speech, Jordan offers up a really nice wedding gift with part of Jeff’s $10K and Dani reminds him what goes around, comes around.

Julie then drops a tease to the HGs, explaining whoever is evicted next will get a shot of coming back. What the HGs don’t know is Keith, Cassi, Dom and Brendon will go head to head with the evictee in a battle to get back into the house. Unlike the jury house set up, each of the previously evicted roomies have been sequestered alone. Talk about cabin fever! That’s a friggin’ prison sentence. Without female companionship, Keith must be chewing on electrical cords by now.

The HOH competition begins and all but Dani will play Big Brother Chess. This is a quiz based on the first three HGs eliminated, i.e. Keith, Cassi and Dominic. Buzzing in quickly is crucial. Rachel knows her trivia, but blows it. Jeff doesn’t even get to buzz in before he’s kicked to the curb, nor do Lawon or Jordan. Kalia takes the prize, making Dani very, very happy. Shelly placed second, aka first place loser. Once again, Adam is left in the dust.

We leave the backyard with Rachel licking her wounds, Jeff looking nervous and Shelly disappointed she won’t get a letter from home.

Well, the game has changed kiddos. With this turnaround, the vets are no longer wielding the swords. Will newbie Kalia send Rachel on her way, knowing she could return as per Julie’s twist tease? Will she do Dani’s bidding, putting Jeff up as the next target? Will Porsche’s support of Brenchel come back to bite her? Suffice to say there will be some major campaigning going on over the next few days.

Until then Big Brother lovers.

Correction – I mistakenly wrote that the four evicted HGs would battle it out with the next person to leave the house. In fact, only one, chosen by a CBS popularity poll will compete against this coming week’s evictee. Will CBS actually use the poll? Who knows, they do their own thing, but will reveal the results next Thursday.

The whole setup makes me wonder if in place of a standard HOH competition, will the winner of the ex-roommates head to head competition automatically become the new HOH? Remember, there’s only so much air time available during the live show.

Current HOH Kalia had better think carefully about who she puts up on the block. We know she’ll Target Rachel, on behest of her fearless leader Daniele, but this could be a dangerous move as the resident red head is a fierce competitor when not in meltdown mode. If she can hold it together during this next week, she still has a good shot at staying, whether or not she becomes the next to leave the BB house.
