Matt Keough, the ex or soon to be ex husband of Jeana Keough of the Real Housewives of Orange County, was sentenced yesterday to a 90 day diagnostic program at Chino State Prison for two felony drunk driving convictions.
Former major league baseball player Keough suffered a severe brain injury in the early nineties when struck in the head with a baseball. His mental disability was discussed openly by Jeana throughout seasons 1-5 of Real Housewives, culminating in her seeking divorce. The couple have three children, now adults: Shane Keough, a minor league baseball player, Kara Keough, a student at UCLA and an intern at E! Entertainment, and Colton, a recent high school graduate.
from the oc register:
Former major league pitcher Matt Keough is behind bars Friday after pleading guilty earlier this week to two felony drunken driving charges.
Keough pleaded guilty on Monday to felony driving under the influence of alcohol and felony driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08, and was sent to Chino state prison for a 90-day diagnostic program to see if he would be eligible for probation, said Deputy District Attorney Nikki Chambers.
Keough, who formerly starred on “Real Housewives of Orange County,” will be sentenced on Oct. 8 in Orange County Superior Court, prosecutors said. He faces a sentence ranging from probation to six years in prison, Chambers said.
Keough was arrested while driving to his Cota de Caza home on Aug. 15, 2009, Chambers said. He ran a stop sign, and then pulled into his home. His blood alcohol level was .30 – four times the legal limit of .08, Chambers said.
The former ballplayer has a history of alcoholism. He was convicted in 2005 for driving under the influence, and then violated probation in 2008 when he was caught drinking in bar in the Fashion Island Marriott.
