Jason Hoppy has mentioned his late brother Bryan several times on “Bethenny Getting Married”. Bethenny and Jason’s daughter Bryn is named for him.

A Hazleton man died Saturday afternoon, shortly after he was involved in a violent head-on collision in upstate New York. A New York State Police trooper said Sunday that 20-year-old Bryan D. Hoppy, 681 Harrison St., was a passenger in a 1981 Buick driven by Thomas Mark Randis, 21, also of Hazleton. The men apparently were returning home from a fishing trip. Sgt. Marshall Minot, stationed in Pulaski, N.Y., said Randis was traveling southbound on state Route 13 in the town of Altmar. For some unknown reason, he then allegedly crossed the center of the roadway in the proximity of Pulaski Street and directly into the path of a northbound 1979 Jeep Suburban. Minot said emergency personnel from throughout a 30-mile area immediately responded to the scene. An ambulance transported Hoppy of Oswego Community Hospital, where he died a short time later. Randis and the two Jeep occupations, Thomas J. Golden and Gregory Ronalter, both of Connecticut, were taken to A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton, N.Y. All three were treated and released late Saturday, hospital officials said Sunday. Randis was treated for a concussion and facial abrasions, while Golden sustained facial lacerations and Ronalter suffered a fractured left leg in the crash. New York State Police will continue its investigation of the fatal crash, thought Minot on Sunday ruled out alcohol as a possible factor. He said interviews with relatives and the presence of fishing gear in the Randis car leads him to believe the local men were in upstate New York on a fishing trip. “This is a very popular outdoors area that’s known all over the Northeast,” Minot said. “They wre probably fishing in the Salmon River, where some record-breaking fish have been caught.” A friend said the two active outdoorsman previously travelled to that area to fish. Born in Hazleton, Hoppy was the son of Robert M. and Carol A. (DeMatt) Hoppy. He was employed as an operator by Bell of Pennsylvania, Hazleton, and was a second-year student at Luzerne County Community College. Hoppy was a member of St. Mary’s B.C. Church, Hazleton, and the Hazleton Heights Volunteer Fire Co. No. 4. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his maternal grandparents, Robert and Carmella DeMatt, Hazleton; paternal grandmother, Margaret Hoppy, Hazleton Heights; and a brother, Jason Hoppy, who is a student and basketball player at the University of Scranton. Preceding him in death was his paternal grandfather, Stephen Hoppy Sr. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 am from the Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St. The Requiem Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 am in St. Mary’s B.C. Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

I think Bryn is the sweetest and cutest baby I have ever seen. I love the show and Bethennys wit. I think Jason is a loving man who can keep her grounded. I think the whole family is lucky to have each other. And I am sure grandma and grandpa are wonderful parents to have raised such a loving son and now to have a wonderful daughter in law and beautiful grand child. My best to them all.
How dare that person who wrote those negative things about Bethanny. Bethanny may have a scarcastic wit, but that’s what makes the show fun to watch. I haven’t seen a sitcom with a team a writers come up with anything as funny and she just comes out with these one liners on the spot. Jasen gets her and it’s most likely one of the reasons he fell in love with her. He is a self confident man with a good heart and he will let her know when she if she’s gone too far. Bethanny has a hugh heart too.
She is no spring chicken, having a baby at 40 and starting and running a multimillion dollar business is no easy task, she keeps going like the energizer bunny. She
needs her rest when she can get it, if she wants to continue on and succeed. You can tell she is guilt ridden and torn because she loves Jason and wants to be able to do it all, you can see that she loves his parents
because they have done such a good job with Jason. they love their granddaughter, Bryn and they love Bethanny because she is a special woman who their son chose to spend the rest of his life with. Jason is crazy about
Bethanny. They are all guilt ridden, the whole family. Bethanny does need to get some rest. It’s too bad Bethanny and Jason’s apartment is so small. if I were Bethanny, I would let Carol and Bob come and stay in N.Y. at the condo and while their there Bethanny should get
the rest she needs, don’t try and entertain them, they just want to play with Bryn. Order
take in food and just relax on your weekends, let them make the coffee and the breakfast for themselves. Bethanny may find this
approach works for everyone. Jason’s parents are retired
and this little Bryn is the most exciting part of their life right now. Can you blame them? She is the cutest,
sweetest little baby ever. Like Jason says the first year
goes so fast, it is such a special time and it is so important that Bryn has this relationship with Grandma and Grandpa. Let them take over, you and Jason should go
stay at a fancy hotel on some of those weekend, keep up the romance or go and enjoy fine dining, romantic dinners
You need lots of that, most couples have at least a year to enjoy each other before they have a baby, but in your case you were blessed (because of your age you were so luckey you didn’t have to go thru in-vitro). Jason and Bethanny get your rest lie in bed on Sunday mornings and read the paper, have stimulating conversations at dinner.
Let Carol and Bob take care of the baby and fend for themselves on their own meals. I’m sure you always want to go on shopping sprees for Bryn each week, buying her new books, educational toys, clothes. I used to go to second hand stores and find all kinds of new stuff for great prices. I’ll never forget the cute little white wooden rocking horse I got for $2 bucks. You are all part of a family and you all have so much love to give, if you ask me, that’s a good thing. thank you all for sharing your lives with us, it is one of the highlights of my week and
the show never disappoints. I love the role play last week on the rooftop during your date night drinks, you both are so great together. PS I like Julie’s hair blonde better- Julie’s the best, God has blessed you in so many ways Bethanny.

I feel for the Hoppy family. I’m so sorry for their loss. Regardless of the amount of time that has passed by, one never gets over the death of a loved one!
With that being said, now its time for me to give MY OPINION of B, whether you like it or not!
The facts are: she is a FAUX celeb (they ALL are!). As of today ( 6 months later) I highly doubt the Hoppys’ are so enamored by their new DIL, St. Beth. After the recent display of her treatment towards the Hoppys’ AND those who live in the town Jason grew up in, would you be?! Keep in mind, that’s just one instance of DISRESPECT that’s been shown. Can you imagine how often that behavior rears its ugly head?? Her “witty” 1 liners? I have a hard time laughing at those especially when they’re at the expense others which is usually the case. Really hate to burst your St.Beths’ bubble but her “witty” 1 liners DON’T come from her “rotten” childhood. If that were true, just about everyone walking the face of this earth would be, oh so “witty”. Try a new one please. LOL FYI, B didn’t tell the complete & honest truth about her entire childhood but I wasn’t shocked by that. After all, she said what she had to in order to gain pity and as expected, it worked! LOL What I found sickening was how St. Beths’ fans saw no wrong in how she slammed her deceased parent. Someone who had no way to reply to her many stories but more importantly, that a child would do that to their own parent! And for what? Pity, a few magazine covers & money?!? That was disgusting!! Now that Beth’s a parent, she’ll soon find out that she too, could be (most likey will be) on the recieving end!! Here’s two questions I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that her daughter has asked 15 yrs from now,,, Why did you sell me out and Was it worth it? Regardless of faith, religion or what path anyone walks I hope you finally feel embarrassed about your comment. And should post how you feel about that now. Are you THAT sour of an individual or were you trolling?
Obviously Bethenny has had her hard times already and deserves a happy life with people that love and care about her. Yes she can be sarcastic and I think how brilliant she is to be able to flip out such sarcasm so quickly. Having come from a dysfunctional family myself I understand the reflex/protective mechanism that can cause such sarcasm. I don’t think she takes herself as seriously as you seem to think she does.
I hope you know her so personally that you can use comments like “obnoxious, psuedo-celebrity who’s self-serving antics and overblown egoism” as fact. It’s a TV show that is edited for ratings. The only thing I feel is obnoxious and self-serving was your unfeeling post. Which unfortunately was not edited.

i LOVE bethenny. she is a straight shooter and a REAL person — that comes through on screen loud and clear. she and Jason seem just awesome together and i cried tears of joy for her when i saw what a WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL family she was marrying into. God Bless all of them, including Jason’s brother. These are GOOD people. They deserve all the best.
I am very sad for the Hoppy’s but out of tragedy comes a blessing from god and their family will never forget him and every time they look at brynn they can thing of him and tell her about her uncle and how special he was to them. Congrats to the couple!
The person who posted on July 8thm I am sure has walked with purity through their life, God Bless them. But, I think maybe they need to speak with Bob & Carol first about any comment made about their loving daughter in law, whom they both adore and love, let alone is the mother of their grandchild, baby Bryn. This is an article regarding the Hoppy family tragedy and you came here to slam Jason’s choice of Bethenny as his wife? Do you NOT give the man ANY credit? He obviously loves her and he and Bethenny chose TOGETHER to name their newborn daughter after Bryan. Do you know the Hoppys? Do you know Bethenny? I would venture to say that you would be best served not stating your opinion because, although you are entitled to it, I don’t see why you think it should matter to anyone here.
That being said, what happened to Bryan and the strength with which the Hoppy family came though, they are to be applauded. He was obviously a special guy and they are truly a wonderful family.

I feel the same way , I just watched episode after episode of this woman complaining about everything . Her mother her father, I mean its exhausting. She seems to just look at the world with her perspective and cannot understand others feelings. I think this man is going to grow tired of this. He is a small town guy very innocent looking who likes the stardom and the cameras but it all gets old. lets hope and pray he stays with her. She is like a threatening volcano . Her gases, magma, and molten rock that come spewing out of her mouth are enough to just end the relationship.

How sad. The Hoppy’s still remember Bryan with so much love 19 years later. I think it’s very touching that Jason and Bethenny named their daughter after his brother. The Hoppys are such a sweet family. I am so happy for Bethenny that she is now with them.
