The Jeff Beitzel Memorial Fund set up by Gretchen Rossi with the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society has been the subject of intense media attention in the last weeks, Here is an excerpt of the statement she gave FoxNews yesterday:
Rossi claims she had no idea that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society did not carry out their end of the deal.
“I was then told that it would be at my discretion how those funds would be used within the organization (i.e. research, patient services etc.). It has since been brought to my attention that the fund was never actually set up.”
The LLS have since come forth and issued an apology to an “upset and embarrassed” Rossi, who has taken quite a public bashing across the Web over the “miscommunication.”
“A fund has not been set up by LLS and we apologize for any embarrassment this may have caused Ms. Rossi. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will work with Rossi to identify a researcher who will be named in Jeff Beitzel’s memory,” the organization said in a statement on Friday. “LLS appreciates the effort put forth by Ms. Rossi.”

I am the one who broke this story with my email to LLS. I have it and would be happy to provide it for this website to post if they want to contact me at my email address.
I also have a list of fundraising events she had claiming to raise money for this non existant fund and LLS is currently trying to determine where the money is since Ms. Rossi never sent it to them.
Sounds more like Gretchy Poo got busted and tried to push the blame on the LLS. LLS realizes that they will take the hit if it means money to their charity. SAD! Uh…if you set up a fund that is supposedly as PERSONAL as this one to her, wouldn’t you think you would have….oh FOLLOWED up on it?
