Television Without Pity on Lockdown

 Real Housewives of Orange County Message Board Shutdown.

Everyone knew when Bravo TV bought the popular message board Television Without Pity, better known as TWOP, no good would come of it.

On December 22, 2009, the powers that be shut down the Real Housewives of Orange County message board.

So much for television without pity. Apparently, they do take pity when it comes to certain shows.  This is the third or fourth shutdown of these comments by writers in three years. This time, before mid-season.

The comments when it comes to these women and their cohorts and children are harsh. I was amused when Lisa Wu Hartwell of the Real Housewives of Atlanta complained about “double standards” when it came to viewer criticism. I knew she had never read an RHOOC message board!

The first RHOOC message board was reportedly shut down because George Peterson got tired of reading the negative comments posted about his relationship with Lauri Waring and threatened a lawsuit. This was “back in the day” before Bravo took over. the second shutdown was because the message board participants were sniping at each other.

This go round seems to be about the comments made about Alexis and Jim Bellino. comments like “Taliban Jim” and “It’s hard out here for a pimp” sealed the deal.

They need a name change: How about “Television Without Pity Unless You Step on Certain Toes”
