    Bring it On, Jersey Girls!

‘Real’ mob story of New Jersey wives: Family has ties to rubbed out ‘Tiny’ Manzo

They live in a land of made men and unmade beds.

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" are coming next month, with the latest installment of the hit reality show introducing a quintet of Garden State gals – including two with a mob pedigree.

Sisters Dina and the Manzo – they married a pair of Jersey brothers – provide a real-life link to "the Sopranos" for the Bergen County-based program.

Their father-in-law, Albert (Tiny) Manzo, was executed mob-style in August 1983, after he and Gambino family soldier Peter A. Campisi were suspected of skimming from a mob casino on Staten Island.

"A couple of weeks later, they found Tiny Manzo in the trunk of his car," recalled Robert Buccino, a New Jersey organized crime expert.

The 350-pound mobster took four slugs to his torso. His naked body – the arms and legs bound in plastic – was discovered in the trunk of his parked Lincoln-Continental outside a supermarket in Hillside, N.J.

    The killing was never solved.

Campisi, a made man and Tiny’s partner in the casino, suffered a similar fate, Buccino recalled.

The colorful Manzo, who ran for mayor of Paterson in 1974, also owned the Brownstone Restaurant – one of the main backdrops for action in "Housewives."

His two wealthy sons, Albert and Tommy, still operate the venerable Paterson catering facility. Blond Dina and red-headed sibling Caroline are the first pair of sisters featured on the hit show.

They all live in pricey Franklin Lakes, an exclusive enclave that’s home to a pair of New York sports legends – Phil Simms and Willie Randolph – and disgraced ex-NYPD boss Bernie Kerik.

Despite their lavish lifestyles, huge bankrolls and pricey McMansions, household chores remain an issue for these capo di cutie capis.

A preview show caught Dina Manzo and daughter Lexi feuding over the mess in the 12-year-old’s bedroom. Regular episodes begin airing May 12 on Bravo.

Nowhere in the preview, which introduced the five titular housewives, is there mention of Tiny, his murder or his mob ties.

Dina and her sister stress their Italian heritage and devotion to family.

The Jersey girls, in their debut, pinball between vapid and vain as they live the high life. They work on their tans, spend outrageously, flash endless cleavage and visit the beauty parlor.

Carmela Soprano, eat your heart out.

Which is not to say the show wouldn’t benefit if Tiny was still around. When Albert Manzo made his mayoral run, he was a law-and-order candidate advocating public hangings.

"He was a real character," Buccino said. "A huge guy. He was well-known."

Jill Thinks Kelly Should Quit the Show

    from gaywired

Jill Zarin thinks Kelly Bensimon should quit the Real Housewives of NYC and she wasn’t afraid to say just how she sees her co-star’s  role on Bravo’s hit reality series.

“I don’t think it’s working for her,” Jill Zarin told E! Online, “I don’t think she should be on the show.”

“It’s not that I think we should throw anybody off,”  Zarin continued, “It’s just that I think if I were her, I would not do the show again. I would go back to anonymity and spend the next year trying to repair my reputation. What’s more important to her: her reputation or fame?”

How sweet, Jill Zarin is only looking out for everyone’s best interest, of course.

Zarin also revealed that things are icy as ever between Bensimon and cast mate Bethenny Frankel. “They’re not friends,” Zarin said. “They never were. They never will be. They’re sophisticated girls, so they’ll be polite to each other when they see each other at Bravo events. They’re not going to pull each others’ hair out, but there’s definitely ice cubes in the room.”

Bensimon had no comment on Zarin’s harsh evaluation, but a rep for the ex-model says, “Jill is entitled to her opinion. Kelly had a wonderful time on the show.”

Zarin, along with the other five Housewives, was present at the recent Reunion Special taping, which Bravo recently extended to a special 2-hour long, 2-evening TV event. Must have been a lot of drama in that reunion!

Zarin spills, “There were a lot of liars at the table… Ramonaliar! Kelly—liar! LuAnn—baby liar.”

Wonder what The Countess and bright-eyed Ramona were lying about? Zarin drew the line there, so fans will have to tune in to see for themselves!

Jill is equally chatty about her loving family. They recently supported her as the pint-sized socialite made a big change: breast reduction surgery!

Zarin tells Life & Style, ”I could not have done it without my husband, Bobby, and my daughter, Allyson. Bobby took me to the hospital with my parents, Gloria and Sol. My parents stayed until the surgery was over and deemed a success. Bobby stayed with me every second.”

Zarin’s surgery reduced her chest from a 32G to a 32DD. Zarin wanted other women thinking about plastic surgery to know, “There is no reason anyone should have to suffer from low self-esteem or poor body image.  We have the power to change our bodies in a safe and positive way.”

Too bad she doesn’t think untrained, out of control Chihuahuas should leave the show also!

Real Housewives of New York City: Reunion Drama Much?

Bravo recently extended the reunion into a special 2-hour long, 2-evening TV event. Must have been a lot of drama in that reunion! Will these women top the Oranges and the Peaches in accusations, tears, and drama?

Count de Lesseps and Princess Kemeria in Ethiopia

    from the Ethiopian Review

    Kemeria Abajobir Abajifar

(EthioPlanet) — Last week, EthioPlanet.com revealed the name of the mysterious woman who until then was only known as the “Ethiopian Woman” Count Alexandre de Lesseps had apparently fallen for.

There were some disputes in the blogosphere as to the veracity of what EthioPlanet revealed. To avoid unnecessary defamation, we’ve now released a picture to go along with the name.

The featured photograph was taken in a limousine during a recent trip to Addis Ababa (capital of the AU), Ethiopia.

A source, close to the couple, Count Alexandre de Lesseps and Princess Kemeria Abajobir Abajifar told EthioPlanet.com they were traveling in Ethiopia to promote micro-finance for Ethiopian women.

“They also have plans to open an orphanage in her hometown of Jimma, and to create in Addis Ababa, a museum of African history,” the source added.

Alexandre de Lesseps, 59, was raised in Khartoum, Sudan and in Tangiers, Morocco.

Micro financing is, of course, nothing new to the Count. He is, among other things, an entrepreneur, investment banker, and has pioneered micro financing in developing nations.

He is President of London based Coral Capital Ltd and Pandaw Investment Hldgs in Hong Kong. He is also co-founder and President of Blue Orchard Finance S.A., a leading micro finance management company based in Geneva.

More pictures will be released in the coming days featuring the couple together on their trip to Ethiopia.
